PIQUA — The Piqua Civic Band will celebrate the holiday season with a concert titled “The Sounds of the Holidays” at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Piqua. The band and its director, Brett Poling, welcome Alicia Norris as their guest vocalist for the afternoon.

Norris began her love of music at a young age through MGM musicals and her grandmother. She studied voice at the University of Dayton under the instruction of Dr. David Sievers for six years. She is a 2010 graduate of Centerville High School and received her bachelor of education degree from the University of Dayton in 2014. Norris is excited to share her love of music and how it inspires the heart with everyone. She currently studies new music pieces in her spare time and sings in her church choir.

Norris will perform “White Christmas,” “The Christmas Song” and help to lead the annual Christmas sing-along. Other selections will include Leroy Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride,” “Ancient and Honorable Artillery March,” “That Holiday Season,” (a medley of Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s songs), “A Stowaway on Santa’s Sleigh (Around the World on Christmas Eve),” “Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus,” holiday funny favorites, and more.

Admission to the concert is free and all are welcome.

This performance of The Piqua Civic Band is generously sponsored by The Miami County Foundation and Westminster Presbyterian Church.
