Lungevity

Fighting lung cancer … Find it. Treat it. Live.

Mike Ullery | Daily Call Chris Draft, a retired NFL linebacker, speaks at the Piqua City Commission Chambers on Friday about lung cancer awareness. The event was held to support retired Piqua Firefighter Jeff Meckstroth who has been fighting the disease for the past two years. Jeff’s wife, Rhonda, who serves as administrative assistant for the Piqua Fire Department contacted Draft about possibly coming to Piqua. Draft, who had lost his wife, Lakeasha, to lung cancer in 2011 and has since been heavily involved with spearheading the fight for more research and approval of drugs to fight lung cancer, was in Piqua 48 hours later and ready to help. (Additional photos from the event can be found on page 7)
