PIQUA – Shoe Sensation, located in the Miami Valley Centre Mall, is part of a multi-state program to collect and donate both military approved socks for active-duty personnel stationed overseas, as well as casual socks for off-duty use and local veterans in need.

Through Christmas Eve, Shoe Sensation will offer a 20 percent discount on socks purchased for donation to the Socks for Troops program. While new unworn socks bought elsewhere may be donated, Shoe Sensation has secured a special selection of military-approved socks that meet the requirements for active duty which can be purchased to donate to our troops overseas.

“Socks are something we take for granted as most of us have nice clean socks every day to put on. The holidays are quickly approaching and it’s important for us to think about the thousands of U.S. military men and women deployed overseas in harsh, war ravaged places, and most likely spending the holidays away from their family. I am honored to be part of a company that gives back to the community,” Angela Smith, area director and second-time participant of Socks for Troops, said.

Anyone who has served in the military or worked outdoors in difficult conditions understands the difference dry, clean socks can make. While the military does provide clothing including socks, extra socks are one of the top requests of U.S. personnel overseas.

Headquartered in Jeffersonville, Indiana, Shoe Sensation has more than 165 stores throughout the Midwest, as well as in states including Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma and South Dakota.
