Bradford library offers variety of events

BRADFORD — Bradford Public Library is offering a host of events for the month of November:

Saturday, Nov. 4, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. — The new Friends of Bradford Public Library craft show will feature 18 vendors with a variety of items including raffle items. In addition, there will be homemade baked goods and face painting for the kids. Library parking is in the west lot and across the street by the Depot.

Thursday, Nov. 9, 10-11:30 a.m. — STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Math) activities, presented by Stacie Layman, will be held for home school children in grades 1-8 beginning as a free educational service.

Tuesday, Nov. 14, 11 a.m. to noon — This will be the inaugural event for our StoryTime hour with teacher Becca Scalf; this series will last for six consecutive weeks. The theme will be “Animals in Winter.” Each week will focus on the winter behavior of animals in different habitats. Hands-on activities, listening to stories and developmentally appropriate skills will be highlighted each week.

Tuesday, Nov. 14, 6 p.m. — The popular “Just a Pie” crust class will be a hands-on learning experience in which participants will be introduced to the science of pie crust ingredients and the art of combining and rolling them to produce a flaky pastry. Each participant will make two crusts to take home to fill and bake. Filling recipes will be shared. Cost for all materials is $5. Sign-up deadline is Friday, Nov. 10.

​Thursday, Nov. 16, 4 p.m. — Are you interested in volunteering at Bradford Public Library? Our staff will hold an information highlighted by current volunteers who will share their own stories.

Friday, Nov. 24, 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 25, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. —Bradford Public Library invites all Lego lovers and aficionados to help build our Lego Christmas Village and Santa Claus Town. We will have a new project​ to add this year. All Legos will be provided. The second Saturday to help build the Christmas project will be Dec. 2, at the same time. This activity is recommended for kids 10 years through adults. The village and Santa Town will be displayed throughout the library with the names of the builders.

​Beginning Tuesday, Nov. 28, professional woodworking artist Butch Clark will be back to help carve a Christmas or winter delight.The workshop is held for two consecutive evenings ​from 6 8:30 pm. This workshop fills up quickly and all of the wood and tools will be provided. Clark currently teaches a variety of woodworking classes in many states. Deadline to get your name on the list is is Friday, Nov. 24.

Thursday, Nov. 30 — Kathy’s Krafts returns for the Christmas and winter season. Taught by crafter Kathy Weigandt, participants will create and craft their own winter snowman. All materials are provided and the cost is $30, payable in advance and non-refundable. The deadline for signing up is Saturday, Nov. 25.

Thursday, Nov. 30 also is the sign-up deadline for the Joanie’s Floral Design home decorating workshop, “Take it With You!,” which is set for Wednesday, Dec. 6, ​at 6 p.m. Participants will create two different decorative items using live greenery. This session fills up very quickly. The cost for instruction and all materials is $25, payable to Joanie’s Floral. A minimum deposit of $10 must be made at sign-up to confirm your spot. This workshop will take place at The Bradford Community Club on Miami Avenue.
