PIQUA — The following are highlights from the Piqua police reports. All information is provided by Piqua police reports and Miami County Municipal Court records.

CHARGE DISMISSAL: A charge of first-degree felony rape against Matthew Artz, 40, of Troy, was dismissed without prejudice on Oct. 11 in Miami County Municipal Court. Prosecutors have the option to refile charges against Artz. The case is undergoing further investigation.

SOLICITORS: A female was seen panhandling in front of Walmart on Oct. 7 at 3 p.m. The female was warned.

Two males were seen soliciting at KFC on Oct. 7 at approximately 3:10 p.m. They were warned.

TRESPASSED: A suspect was trespassed from Family Dollar for reportedly attempting to shoplift on Oct. 7 at approximately 4 p.m.

ASSIST FIRE DEPARTMENT: The Piqua Fire Department and the Piqua Police Department responded to a report of a boat fire at a residence on West High Street on Oct. 8 at 12:30 a.m. This exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.

FOUND: A complainant advised that she found drug paraphernalia in her yard on Park Avenue on Oct. 8. Those items were confiscated and transported to the police department where they were destroyed.

ACCIDENT: There was a traffic crash on Broadway Street on Oct. 8 at approximately 4:30 p.m. A driver was cited.

There was a two-vehicle accident in the area of North Sunset Drive and Park Avenue on Oct. 9 at 4:30 p.m.

There was a three-vehicle accident with injuries reported at Walmart on Oct. 10 at approximately 3:45 p.m. A driver was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead. Another driver was cited for driving under suspension and improper turning.

OVI: Officers responded in reference to a business trying to recover a car that had been taken for a test drive for several hours on Oct. 9. The car was recovered on South Wayne Street on Oct. 9 at 12:15 p.m. The driver was reportedly found to be driving while intoxicated. Wayne H. King, 55, of Sidney, was charged with fourth-degree felony OVI-under the influence and minor misdemeanor open container in a motor vehicle in connection with this incident.

THEFT: Amanda J. Smith, 37, of Piqua, was charged with first-degree misdemeanor theft on Oct. 9. Smith was charged after there was a report of a female subject shoplifting at Walmart at Oct. 9 at 3:30 p.m.

A lawn mower was reported stolen from a shed on New Haven Road sometime between Oct. 6-9.

Money was reported stolen from three vehicles on Garbry Road on Oct. 9 at 10:20 p.m.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE: An officer was dispatched to Kroger for a criminal damage complaint on Oct. 9 at approximately 6 p.m. There was a report of a female subject slamming her car door into another car three times to cause damage. Shaneek N. Fogle, 26, of Piqua, was charged with second-degree misdemeanor criminal damaging in connection with this incident.

There was a criminal damage complaint on South Main Street on Oct. 10 at 4:10 p.m. A male subject advised he believed a female subject slashed all four tires and keyed a vehicle belonging to him.

DRUG OVERDOSE: There was a report of a male subject overdosing on unspecified drugs on East Grant Street on Oct. 10 at 8 a.m.
