TROY — A Piqua man driving a stolen car crashed the vehicle into a Troy home early Sunday morning.

The Troy Police Department responded to a 9-1-1 call at 6:18 a.m. Sunday that a car had crashed into a home at 980 Linwood Drive, according to Sgt. Joe Stutz.

He said prior to the crash, the suspect, Kevin Lux, 23, of Piqua, is accused of breaking into a garage at a residence on Miami Avenue, where he stole a pick-up truck. Lux then drove the stolen vehicle, hitting several cars — one on Miami Avenue and several on Linwood Drive — before crashing into the home at 980 Linwood Drive, Stutz said.

Lux then exited the vehicle and was found by officers on foot in the back yard of a Forest Avenue home, where he was apprehended and taken into custody, Stutz said. Prior to being booked into the Miami County Jail, Lux was taken to Upper Valley Medical Center, where he was treated and released for injuries.

No one in the home was injured. However, Stutz said city and county engineers have deemed the home structurally uninhabitable until repairs are made.

He said the Red Cross was called to assist the displaced family.

Lux has been charged with OVI, breaking and entering, auto theft and fleeing the scene of an accident, Stutz said.

Lux also has a record listing a host of other criminal and traffic convictions in Miami County.
