Covington Church to host salad luncheon

COVINGTON — The third salad luncheon for the Covington Christian Church will be held on Friday, Aug. 18.

Remember you will enjoy our large assortment of homemade salads, finger sandwiches, and desserts from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m in for the small donation of $6. Carry outs are available upon request. Enjoy great food and fellowship in an air conditioned area. All are welcome! This is the third luncheon in our 2017 series ending in October.

The church is located at 115 N. Pearl Street in Covington, and is handicap accessible.

Our famous yummy apple dumplings will be available by reservation! A few will be available for purchase at the luncheon. These are $3 each or 12 for $30.

United Night coming to Hance Pavilion

PIQUA — United Night Piqua will be held at Hance Pavilion in Fountain Park, 1300 Forest Ave. in Piqua, on Aug. 18 at 7 p.m. The event is bringing together churches from Piqua, Troy, Covington, Dayton, Tipp City, and more for a worship celebration.

The public is invited to attend the nondenominational worship event and can register for their seats online at unitednight.org due to limited seating at Hance Pavilion.

All donations given during United Night Piqua will go toward the Bethany Center of Piqua.

Annual church fair returns

PIQUA — The Piqua Association of Churches’ annual Church Fair is headed back to the Miami Valley Centre Mall, and the public is invited to attend and meet new churches.

On Friday, Aug. 18, and Saturday, Aug. 19, local churches will be running booths advertising their churches along with programs and worship times of their churches from open until close at the mall, 987 E. Ash St., which will be from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. those days.

Musical performances provided by those churches will also be taking place in the cafeteria at the mall those days.

Greene Street’s church picnic coming up

PIQUA — Greene Street United Methodist Church will hold its all-church picnic from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, at Garbry Big Woods Reserve, 6660 Casstown-Sidney Road, Piqua. Each family is asked to bring a dish to share. There will be roast pork and fun and games! Please invite your family and friends. All three shelters have been reserved, but you might want to bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on.

Teen block party planned

PIQUA — The teenagers of the First Baptist Church of St. Paris, located on the corner of Church and Plum Streets, is hosting a free block party Aug. 26 from 5-9pm.

All teenagers in middle and high school are invited to attend.

There will be live music, DJ and karaoke, water games, hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy, ice cream, and much more.

Oktoberfest planned

PIQUA — The fifth annual St. Boniface Oktoberfest is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Sept. 22-23. The festival, which will take place on the parish grounds, 218 S. Downing, will feature an authentic cabbage roll dinner and a variety of other foods, as well as music, raffles, children’s rides, and games. Hours will be 5-11 p.m. Friday and 2-11 p.m. Saturday. The public is invited to attend.

Moore to make simulcast appearance

PIQUA — LifeWay Christian Resources and Living Proof ministries are partnering to simulcast Bible teacher and best-selling author Beth Moore, live from Toledo on Sept. 16. Piqua Grace United Methodist Church is once again serving as a host location for the Piqua area.

The theme is “Captivated: The Wonder of Christ on the Winding Road.” Moore will share truth from Scripture to help guide women on their own journeys of faith.

Doors open at 9 a.m. for registration and light breakfast and the event ends at 4:15 p.m. Tickets are $10 and include a full day of music and worship, a catered lunch from Susie’s Big Dipper in Piqua, sessions led by Moore, and fellowship.

Godwin to speak at FOG

COVINGTON — On Sunday, Oct. 1, Fields of Grace Worship Center in Covington will be hosting John Godwin at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. services. These services are for the public but will also focus on honoring our first responder’s in the area.

Godwin is one of only two regular cast members of “Duck Dynasty” who is not part of the Robertson family. He will be speaking at all three services about his life before and during his career with Duck Dynasty. He will be giving autographs and having photos taken after each service.

Free tickets are available now, but the number is limited. Tickets are required for the services.

Coupon Club meets weekly
