PIQUA – A pickup truck crashed into the Miami Valley Center Mall at Dunham’s on Sunday afternoon.

Police were called to the mall after witnesses reported a small pickup truck traveling at an alleged high rate of speed left the roadway after the driver lost control. The vehicle struck the northwest corner of the Dunham’s Sporting Goods store.

Airbags did deploy on impact.Witnesses reported that three subjects, the driver and two passengers, fled the truck, running in toward the railroad tracks.

It is surmised that at least two of the subjects suffered at least minor injuries due to blood found on the airbags. Piqua police believe that the subjects had just come from McDonald’s as there was fresh McDonald’s food found in the truck.

Police found at least one driver’s license in the vehicle. They are working to locate all three occupants.

It is believed that there was no significant damage to the mall structure.

The driver of the vehicle, when located, will probably face several charges, including leaving the scene of a crash.
