Free Public day at International Trail Symposium

DAYTON — Everyone is invited to attend the kick-off event of the 23rd American Trails International Trails Symposium (ITS) on Sunday, May 7 at the Dayton Convention Center in downtown Dayton. The exhibit hall will be open from noon to 5 p.m. to attendees, guests, and local trail enthusiasts free of charge. This event will provide the local community and attendees with an opportunity to visit exhibitors and learn about the Symposium and trails around the state and country.

Visitors will be able to enjoy an indoor climbing wall and pumptrack, RiverMobile traveling exhibit and an “indoor trails and greenways system.” There will be a film screening of “Trail Magic” at 5 p.m. with a post-screening Q & A session with the producer. Local groups from around the Dayton area will be on-hand with information tables, presentations and workshop activities for all ages. Entertainment will be provided.

This free public day is sponsored by American Trails. The 2017 ITS will be held across the Dayton region May 7-10 and be based at the Dayton Convention Center. ITS will feature more than 80 presentations, field trips and workshops. This biennial symposium is the premier opportunity for the worldwide trails community to come together to experience regional trails and advocate for the economic and environmental power of trails.

“In my opinion, Dayton is the nation’s best, undiscovered trail town,” says Mike Passo, executive director of American Trails. “An extensive paved trails network, a strong network of public and private partners, and that ‘never-take-no-for-an-answer’ Ohio attitude is coming together to make the 2017 ITS the must-see trails event of the year. “
