MIAMI COUNTY — The Miami County Commissioners voted to approve several purchases at their meeting Thursday.
The board approved the purchase of new cameras for the county’s jail and incarceration facility. The purchase includes six dome-style interior cameras from Garber Electrical Contractors of Englewood at a cost of $2,090.
Four cameras will be installed in the incarceration facility, and the other two in the county jail to improve surveillance operations in both facilities. The purchase also includes one CCTV power supply for the jail.
The commissioners also authorized the purchase of a new car for Children’s Services. The 2017 Ford Fusion will be purchased from Middletown Ford at a total cost of $18,204.
An increase in grant funding for Juvenile Court was also approved, increasing the previous award amount by $34,126 to $684,879. This will allow for the purchase of Odysseyware educational materials, three Smart Boards, and more electronic monitoring units. It will also enable the court to add two new programs, independent living and anger management.
The RECLAIM grant funds are distributed by the Ohio Department of Youth Services.
The board also read a proclamation designating May as “Older Americans Month.”
