PIQUA — First Choice Paint and Body Shop is diversifying the equipment at their disposal in order to reach more customers.
First Choice Paint and Body Shop has added a Blackhawk Powercage, a heavy duty straightening system, to their business, allowing them to stand out among other body shops. This new repair system will allow them to straighten the frame of any kind of vehicle after a collision, from a regular automotive to a bus to semi-trucks.
“You can straighten anything from a semi-truck to an automotive,” owner Rob Brown said. It can accommodate RVs and dump trucks as well.
First Choice Paint and Body Shop was finishing up the installation of the system on Thursday. The Blackhawk Powercage includes 10 pulling towers that can be moved and positioned.
“In the collision business, all the body shops in town have the ability to do repairs on the automotive side. There’s not many that can do the big trucks, but there’s nobody that can straighten the frames on them,” now with the exception of his business, Brown said.
Brown added that there are some body shops capable of doing these types of heavy-duty repairs in Columbus and Cincinnati, but pointed out that his shop is providing a local option.
“With being here centralized right off of (Interstate 75), I felt that it would be a good service to provide,” Brown said.
First Choice Paint and Body Shop focuses on collision repair for vehicles, trucks, semi-trucks, RV campers, and boats. “It’s all accident-related,” Brown said.
They also have a computerized measuring system to make accurate repairs, and they also mix all of their vehicle paint in-house.
Brown has over 30 years of experience in the automotive repair business, first starting in 1986. Brown’s business First Choice Paint and Body Shop has been in operation for around seven years, emerging out of the Rick James Chevrolet Body Shop. Brown had an opportunity to lease that building and then more opportunities came up that allowed them to expand their business to their current location at 8708 N. County Road 25-A in Piqua.
“It kind of all fell into place,” Brown said.
