MIAMI COUNTY — Organizers are looking for community members to get involved in this year’s Miami County Relay for Life.
The American Cancer Society (ACS) would not be successful without the help of donors and volunteers. Because of them, the ACS has able to help thousands of people across the globe with life-saving cancer research studies, crucial patient care programs and education and prevention initiatives. The most important and signature fundraiser for ACS is the Relay for Life event. This year’s Miami County Relay for Life event is June 9-10, a change in dates from the previously announced June 23-24. It will be held again at the Miami County Fairgrounds in Troy.
Relay is a team fundraising event where team members take turns walking around a track or designated path. The event is 24 hours in length and each team is asked to have a member on the track at all times to signify that cancer never sleeps.
Each team sets up a themed site at the event and continues their fundraising efforts by collecting donations for food, goods, games and activities. This money will count towards their overall team fundraising goal.
Joining the Relay for Life event is easy. Simply sign up for a team, create a team, be a participant, volunteer and contribute in monetary donations.
