Busy Sunday for firefighters

PIQUA – Piqua firefighters were dispatched to an alarm at the UPS facility on Industry Park Drive around 12:30 on Sunday afternoon.

The suspected caused of the alarm is a broken water line. Reports from the fire department indicate that a significant amount of water flowed inside the building. The extent of damage has not been released.

While at the Industry Park alarm, a structure fire was reported in the 1000 block of Boone Street. One engine from Piqua Fire Department responded along with an engine from Covington Fire Department. Troy Fire was put on stand-by until the Boone Street fire could be accessed.

Piqua fire units arrived to find light smoke coming from the floor area of the home.

A second Piqua engine cleared the Industry Park site and responded to Boone Street and Troy’s engine was allowed to stand down.

Firefighters found a small fire burning near the foundation and quickly extinguished the blaze. Damage was minimal.

Firefighters cleared the scene around 2 p.m. and returned to quarters.
