MIAMI COUNTY — Miami County Sheriff Office’s attempt to locate a juvenile who had a warrant led to the arrest of a male subject at his home on Swailes Road in Concord Township on Thursday.
According to Sheriff Dave Duchak, officers were on patrol searching for the juvenile’s whereabouts when they smelled a strong odor of fresh marijuana coming from the residence of 25 Swailes Road. Detectives obtained a search warrant and located and seized one pound of marijuana and $5,000 cash.
Alan J. Holter, 54, of 25 Swailes Road, Concord Township, was incarcerated in the Miami County jail without incident He was charged with one count of fifth-degree felony trafficking in marijuana.
According to Sheriff David Duchak, the garage door was going up as the deputies stopped at the residence seeking information about the juvenile.
“The garage door was going up, a couple guys were walking out and one guy had a duffel bag. A very, very strong odor of freshly cultivated marijuana was coming from the house,” Sheriff Duchak said. ‘They found over a pound of marijuana and $5,000 in currency. The one subject admitted that he had just purchased marijuana from the homeowner.”
Duchak said the homeowner and the subject had just completed the transaction as road patrol stopped to seek information regarding the juvenile’s whereabouts.
