MIAMI COUNTY — The Troy man who stabbed his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend in a hotel room on Feb. 8 will be arraigned on the charges in Miami County Common Pleas Court on Feb. 27.

David Boyea, 33, of Troy, was indicted by a grand jury on two counts of attempted murder and felony aggravated burglary after he stabbed Crystal Brooks, 33, and Steve Burns, 30, multiple times at the America’s Best Inn and Suites.

Boyea allegedly knocked on the door and when the door opened he stabbed the couple before fleeing the scene.

Both victims were transported by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital. Brooks was in critical condition from multiple stab wounds to the chest. According to Capt. The trio worked together at the Troy Burger King. Brooks was residing at the motel at the time of the incident.

Boyea was apprehended by Troy Police road patrol at Race and Mulberry streets around 9 a.m. the day of the incident. He remains incarcerated at the Miami County Jail on a $550,000 bond on all charges.
