PIQUA – A Piqua man who was charged with the break-in and vandalism of the Snyder Road Church of God last week faces additional charges in connection with another church break-in as well as a pair of residential burglaries.

Dustin L. Conner, 29, who already faces several felony charges for the Snyder Road incident is being charged with breaking and entering into the Victory Baptist Church on South Street, last week.

Deputy Chief Marty Grove said that Conner was a suspect in the Victory Baptist Church break-in but police now have the evidence needed to file charges.

Piqua police have been working closely with the Miami County Sheriff’s Office on this case. Lt. Tom Wheeler said that in addition to confessing to the break-in at Victory Baptist Church, Conner also confessed to a Union-Shelby Road burglary.

Grove said that Conner is being charged with a residential burglary on Brook Street in which a firearm was among the items stolen. The weapon has been recovered.

A computer from the Snyder Road burglary was recovered, as was the handgun from the Brook Street burglary.

Wheeler said that Conner is also being charged with felonious assault for assaulting a corrections officer.

Conner is to be arraigned on Sunday morning.
