PIQUA — The following are highlights from the Piqua police reports. All information is provided by Piqua police reports and Miami County Municipal Court records.
SUSPICIOUS: There was a report of an unknown female subject sleeping in a yard on Young Street on Sept. 24 at 11:13 a.m. The subject was reportedly waiting on a friend to get home.
There was a report of juveniles possibly breaking into vehicles in the area of Morrow Street on Sept. 24 at 9:48 p.m. An officer checked the area and did not locate any juveniles.
A woman reported seeing a man dressed in all black clothing in the backyard of a residence on South Downing Street who reportedly ran off down the alley when the woman approached him on Sept. 25 at 9:25 p.m. The area was checked, and no one matching the description was located.
There was a report of an elderly woman being followed through town by an unknown man in a vehicle in the area of Wood and South Main streets on Sept. 25 at 10:19 p.m. The man reportedly contacted police as well, advising he thought the elderly woman was a drunk driver and was attempting to follow her to tell police.
There was a report of an occupied vehicle running in a parking lot on North County Road 25-A on Sept. 25 at 11:32 p.m. The occupant was a college student who had stopped to rest while driving back to school. He was advised of the nearest rest stop.
THEFT: There was a report of a theft of money from Cub Scouts popcorn sales at Kroger on Covington Avenue on Sept. 24 at 3:20 p.m.
A temporary tag was reported stolen off a vehicle on Wood Street on Sept. 24 at 11:25 p.m.
A hand-held game system was reported stolen from a home on second street on Sept. 25 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Items were reported stolen out two vehicles on Echo Lake Drive overnight between Sept. 25-26.
ASSAULT: A female victim was reportedly cut by a knife that was thrown at her by a known assailant in the area of East Main and Cleveland streets on Sept. 25 at 5:18 p.m. Dustin N. Sirch, 33, of Troy, was charged with third-degree misdemeanor negligent assault in connection with this incident.
A victim said than an unknown woman asked for a ride home as the victim was leaving work in the area of East Ash and Race streets on Sept. 25 at 11:31 p.m. The unknown woman reportedly assaulted the victim and stole medication.
FOUND PROPERTY: Two bicycles were found at an empty lot at the former Favorite Hill School on South Street on Sept. 25. They were placed in police property.
A bag of girls’ clothing was found next to a residence on Manier Avenue on Sept. 25 at 9:46 p.m.
