MIAMI COUNTY — At their meeting Tuesday morning, the Miami County Commissioners approved purchases, including several technology upgrades.
The commissioners authorized the IT Department to purchase wireless access points, 33 in total, to be installed in most county office buildings.
This is not intended to be a replacement for wired networking, but will allow for more flexibility of access from laptops and tablets. The wireless will not be available for public use.
The cost is not to exceed $6,310.
The IT Department will also purchase purchase memory for the county’s servers for its downtown and County Road 25-A offices. This will allow the department to triple the maximum amount of memory that can be put into each server.
The cost is not to exceed $10,063.
The commissioners also approved the purchase of three snow plows and salters the Facilities and Operations Department’s recently purchased Chevrolet pickup trucks.
The purchase of each unit and the cost to outfit each truck is not to exceed $32,234 per truck.
The board also signed a contract with Garmann-Miller & Associates for professional design services for the replacement of the hot water heating boiler plant at the West Central Juvenile Detention Facility at a cost of $28,200.
