TIPP CITY — Two Piqua residents were arrested on heroin-related drug charges in Tipp City during a traffic stop on July 1.
Marcus E. Turnbill, 42, and Brian L. Lacey, 47, were reportedly found on the off-ramp at exit 69 in the area of I-75 northbound changing a tire when a Tipp City officer approached them. The officer turned around to see if they needed any assistance when the vehicle pulled onto the highway, reportedly driving slowly and causing traffic issues.
According to Municipal Court documents, the officer noted that Turnbill appeared “extremely nervous” during the traffic stop. Turnbill’s arm was also “bleeding from what appeared to be small puncture marks,” according to Municipal Court documents.
Six capsules of heroin and a used syringe were reportedly recovered from the scene. Turnbill was charged with fifth-degree felony possession of drugs and first-degree misdemeanor possession of a drug abuse instrument. Lacey was also charged with fifth-degree felony possession of drugs in addition to third-degree felony tampering with evidence. Lacey was reportedly caught on video attempting to get rid of his wallet, which was later found to have two capsules of heroin inside of it.
Turnbill was also recently arrested in Piqua on June 25 on multiple theft charges and one drug-related charge after reportedly being found with stolen items and hypodermic needles.
Turnbill is currently being held at the Miami County Jail on $25,000 bond. Lacey is also currently being held at the Miami County Jail on $50,000 bond.
