Bransons celebrating 50 years together

PIQUA — Doug and Shirley Branson of Piqua are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.

The couple were married Oct. 7, 1966, at Piqua Baptist Church in Piqua.

Doug left for the Army on Nov. 22, 1966, where he was in training from 1966-1967, and was then deployed to serve in the Vietnam War from 1967-1968. He returned home from the Vietnam War in May 1968.

The couple have two children, Stephanie and Brian Fuller of Piqua and Jamie Branson, also of Piqua; and five grandchildren, Brooke Tucker of Milwaukee Wisc., Riley Branson attending Ohio University in Athens, Brianna Fuller, Regan Branson, and Ramsey Branson, all of Piqua.

Doug worked for Champion Paper, Chem Lawn and Easy Lawn, and was then was co-owner of Piqua Feed & Seed where he retired from in 2009.

Shirley worked as the purchasing manager of Allen A underwear factory for 20 years until it closed in 1992. She then worked as the purchasing manager of Reliable Castings until retirement in 2014.

Doug is an active member of the VFW and the American Legion. He also enjoys hunting and fishing.

Shirley enjoys bike riding, reading, family and her grandchildren.

Together they enjoy antiquing and their mini-vacation trips.

The couple will celebrate their golden anniversary milestone with family during the upcoming holiday season.
