• BOARD MEETING: The May board meeting for the Miami County Educational Service Center will be at 5:15 p.m. at 2000 W. Stanfield Road, Troy.

• KIWANIS: The Kiwanis of Troy will welcome Nancy Hargrove from the Miami County-Troy Public Library. She will give an update on the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program. The meeting will be held at noon at the Troy Country Club.

• I CAN RUN: The Miami County Park District will hold the new “I Can Run” program from 5:30-7 p.m. at Charleston Falls Preserve, 2535 Ross Road, south of Tipp City. Beginning runners will join a park district naturalist every Monday and Wednesday evening on a journey from non-runner to “I Can Run” over this multi-week program. Class fee for the series is $5. • SLIDERS: Sliders and chips will be offered at the Tipp City American Legion Post 586. Two sliders with toppings and chips for $2 beginning at 6 p.m.

• HEALTH TREKKERS: The Miami County Park District will hold its Health Trekkers program from 10-11 a.m. at Stillwater Prairie Reserve, 9750 State Route 185, north of Covington. Take a hike for health and join park district health and wellness specialist, registered nurse Marion for this weekly low impact walk held each Thursday morning. Relevant topics such as heart health, diet and nutrition, diabetes prevention, stress relief and many others will be discussed during this walking series. Remember to wear weather appropriate gear and walking shoes for comfort. Registration not required but highly recommended. • LUNCHEON: The Tipp City Seniors members and guests will a trustees meeting at 10 a.m., followed by a carry-in luncheon at noon at 320 S. First St., Tipp City. Entertainment will be military trivia.

• MOVIE NIGHT: Join staff for teen novie night at 7 p.m. Bring your friends along to watch “A Dog’s Purpose,” at the Oakes-Beitman Memorial Library in Pleasant Hill. The movie is rated PG and runs for 2 hours. Popcorn and drinks will be provided. This event is for ages 12-17. For more information, call (937) 676-2731.

• TACO SALAD: Taco salad will be offered by the Tipp City American Legion Auxiliary Unit 586. Serving begins at 6 p.m. for $5. Euchre starts at 7 p.m. for $5.

• SOUTHVIEW MEETING: The Southview Neighborhood Association will hold a general meeting at 7 p.m. at the Mote Park Community Center. Anyone who lives or works or owns a business in the Southview area is welcome to attend. Items on the agenda will include discussions on the Mote Park building projects and Fourth of July activities, among other topics. The guest speaker for the evening will be Amy Havenar, city engineer for the city of Piqua, speaking on the redesign of the four-way intersection at Roosevelt, College, Garnesy, and Commercial stretsand the Inner Bike Trail Loop coming to Mote Park. • SEAFOOD DINNER: A seafood dinner will be offered at the Pleasant Hill VFW Post 6557, 7578 W. Fenner Road, Ludlow Falls, from 6-7:30 p.m. The three-piece fried fish dinner, 21-piece fried shrimp, or a fish/shrimp combo with french fries and coleslaw will be $7 and up. Frog legs, when available, are $10.

• PIZZA: Pizza night will be served beginning at 6 p.m. at the Troy Fish & Game.

• NIGHT HIKE: The Miami County Park District will hold its Discovery Night Hike program at 9 p.m. at Garbry Big Woods Reserve, 6660 Casstown-Sidney Road, east of Piqua. Join a park district naturalist and explore the amazing world of nature at night. Dress for the weather with sturdy walking shoes. Walk will vary from .5 to 1 mile. Bring a flashlight. • LUNCH ON THE LAWN: The Miami County Cattlemen’s Association invites you to have lunch on the lawn of the Miami County Courthouse, Troy, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sirloin sandwich lunches are $6, rib eye sandwich lunches are $8. Lunches include sandwich, chips, cookie, soda or bottled water.

• STEAK: Enjoy a 10-ounce steak, baked potato, salad and dessert at the Tipp City American Legion Post 586. Dinner starts at 6 p.m. for $12.

• WALK: A Walk for Recovery, hosted by the Miami County Recovery Council’s Women’s Alumni Group, will be offered at Duke Park, Troy. Guest speaker Chris Mills will speak at 11 a.m. and the walk will begin at noon. A picnic, hosted by the Miami County Drug Court, will follow.

• WII GAMING: Join in the fun at 1 p.m. at the Milton-Union Public Library. Play games on the big screen. Compete in tournaments, play computer games like Minecraft and Roblox, board games, and snacks.

• PLAY DATE: The Miami County Park District will hold its a Nature Play Date program from 2-3 p.m. at Stillwater Prairie Reserve, 9750 State Route 185, Covington. Bring your elementary school age child to the natural play area for fun and games with park district naturalist Accipiter Amalee. • NATURE SKETCHING: The Miami County Park District will hold the new Nature Sketching program from 10 a.m. to noon at Charleston Falls Preserve, 2535 Ross Road, south of Tipp City. Join park district naturalist/artist Kay Hisong on a hike to observe and sketch nature’s beauty. Beginners and advanced artists welcome. Bring your own sketching tool. For adults. Class size limited. Class fee $7 per person with sketch pad provided or $2 per person if you provide your own sketch pad. Preregistration required. Enjoy a casual walk around Charleston Falls Preserve with park district naturalist John De Boer as tells stories and plays soft, meditative Native American Flute music. • FARMERS MARKET: The Miami County Farmers Market will be offered from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Troy Lowe’s parking lot. Fruits, vegetables, honey, bedding plants and more will be offered.

• KARAOKE: Karaoke begins at 7 p.m. at the Tipp City American Legion Post 586.

• ALUMNI BANQUET: The annual Tippecanoe Alumni Association Alumni Banquet again will be at the L.T. Ball school. Doors will open at 5 p.m. with dinner at 6 p.m. The cost for dinner is $18 pre-registration and $25 at the door. Registration forms are available at Tipp-Monroe Community Services or from Gordon Pittenger Sr. at (937) 667-3051. Following the annual banquet, a gathering again will be held at the American Legion on North Third Street. There is no admission charge for the gathering, but a donation can will be available for those wanting to contribute.

• ADVENTURE SERIES: The Miami County Park District will hold its Naturalist Adventure Series “The Wonderful World of Birds” from 1-4 p.m. at Hobart Urban Nature Preserve, 1400 Tyrone in Troy. The Naturalist Adventure program is a series of fun, child friendly activities where participants can drop in anytime during this self-guided program and learn about nature. This month, learn about birds. A naturalist will be on-site to answer questions and facilitate activity. Remember to dress for the weather. • PARTY FOR BIRDS: The Miami County Park District will hold the Storybook Trail “Dinner Party for the Birds” as part of the Naturalist Adventure Series program from 1-3 p.m. at Hobart Urban Nature Preserve, 1400 Tyrone, Troy. Participants can earn a gemstone rock prize by attending the program, reading the book and completing a journal activity. Ask the local library about more nature books and the Storybook Trail. • BREAKFAST: The Tipp City American Legion Post 586 is open to the public for a full breakfast, made-to-order for $7. Children under 10 eat for $3. Serving will be from 8-11 a.m.

• LUNCH WITH GOD: St. James Episcopal Church, 200 W. High St,. will host Lunch with God from 12:30-2 p.m. The meal is free and open to everyone.

Monday

• SERVICES: The city of Troy Memorial Day services will begin at 10 a.m. on the Adams Street Bridge, then will proceed to Riverside Cemetery for the remainder of the services. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held at the Troy VFW Post N0. 5436, 2220 LeFevre Road, Troy.

• LUNCHEON: The 58th annual Memorial Day luncheon will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., following the parade, at Casstown United Methodist Church, 102 Center St., Casstown. A variety of sandwiches, including barbecued pork, shredded chicken, ham and hot dogs will be available, along with assorted salads and desserts, ice cream and beverages, all sold a la carte. The church is handicapped accessible and carry-outs are available. Call 339-4828 for more information.

• CONCERT: A Memorial Day Concert will take place at 7 p.m. in the pavilion at Treasure Island Park, 409 N. Elm St., County Road 25-A, Troy. Kathy McIntosh will direct the Troy Civic Band in a concert entitled, “Land of the Free, Home of the Brave.”

• PARADE: A Memorial Day parade, sponsored by the Tipp City American Legion Post 586, will begin at 10 a.m. A ceremony will follow at the Maple Hill Cemetery. Come to the Legion Post and enjoy bean soup and cornbread after the ceremony. Monday evening at 6 p.m. the Legion post will offer pizza loin (tenderloin with pizza sauce and cheese) sandwiches for $5.

• SERVICES: A Memorial Day parade will begin at 1 p.m. with a parade at the corner of High and Walnut streets, Covington. Following, there will be a ceremony at Highland Cemetery. A Burial at Sea ceremony will then be performed at Covington Park.

• CHICKEN DINNER: The Covington VFW, 173 N. High St., Covington, will offer a 1/2 barbecued chicken, baked beans and applesauce beginning at 11 a.m. A bake sale also will be available.

• 5K WALK/RUN: A Happy Run 5K Run/Walk will begin at 8 a.m. at Upper Room Worship Center, 648 N. Hyatt St., Tipp City. Registration is $15 and can be made online at www.speedyfeet.com. Race day registration begins at 7 a.m. Awards will be given to top threee males and females in five age groups. For questions, call Destinee Javier at 570-1229.

May 30

• CRAFTS: The Tipp City Seniors members and guests will be offered crafts and quilting at 9 a.m. at 320 S. First St., Tipp City.

• MILTON MEMORIES: A Milton Memories oral history recording session, “Reflections,” will take place at 7 p.m. at the West Milton Municipal Building on South Miami St. The topic will be the Milton-Union Drill Team. The panel will consist of: Jamie Wackler Gregorovic, Ginny Stamper Cox, Dawn Goudy Cauldwell, Dawn Paulus Jay, Sue Saunders Minneman, Michelle Grile Sewell and Colleen Penny Hoover.
