• Cameron’s Smile 5K is hosted each year in honor of the memory of Piqua resident Cameron Forror. Forror went to Walt Disney World on his Special Wish trip in 2006, and according to his parents, Tonya and Chad Forror, “It was one of the most amazing experiences we got to share together. Just getting away, Cameron didn’t have to worry about doctor visits or his health issues. We were just able to go there and enjoy and have family time. We made a lot of great memories that are more special to me now than ever.”

Forror had been diagnosed with Esophageal Atresia and DiGeorge Syndrome, and passed away in September 2008 at the age of 17. The annual 5K is a way for the Forror family to “pay it forward” and ensure other wish kids experience the joy of Walt Disney World. The 2017 Cameron’s Smile 5K will take place on Sept. 17, at Edison State Community College. Log on to www.cantstoprunningco.com for more information.

PIQUA — A local family will soon be going the most magical place on Earth, thanks to the generosity of others.

A Special Wish Foundation, Inc. gifted Bryanna Stambaugh, an incoming first grader at Springcreek Primary School in Piqua, and her family with a trip to Disney World.

“We’re happy to be able to grant Bryanna’s wish to be able to go to Disney World,” David Seyer, executive director of the Dayton Chapter A Special Wish Foundation, Inc., said. The trip was also funded courtesy of the Cameron’s Smile 5K, a local run/walk event held in the memory of Piqua resident Cameron Forror to help other kids receive a special wish.

Last year, Bryanna was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) Leukemia, and it is A Special Wish Foundation’s mission to grant special wishes to children living with a life-threatening disorder. This will be Bryanna and her family’s first trip to Disney World. While in Orlando, Bryanna and her family will be the guests of Give Kids the World Village (gktw.org) and spend the week visiting Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, Sea World, and other attractions in the Orlando area.

Seyer brought Bryanna and her family other gifts this week to go along with the trip, including an extra $1,150 to spend while on the trip, t-shirts, and a bear for Bryanna.

“Disney is amazing. It truly is the happiest place on Earth,” Seyer said to Bryanna and her family.

Bryanna’s mother, Samantha Small, said that they were excited and nervous for the trip. Bryanna’s grandmother, Robbin Small, said that Bryanna and the three other kids going on the trip have been asking about the trip every day since the school year finished.

“We’re totally stoked,” Small said. “Bryanna wants to go see the princesses.”

“You’ll see Elsa. She’ll be there,” Seyer said. Bryanna and her brother Dustin were also excited about Mickey Mouse, to which Seyer said, “There will be more Mickey Mouse plushies than you’ll know what to do with.”

A Special Wish Foundation hopes that this trip will be an opportunity for the family to be just that: a family. Seyer said that the gift is meant to help families be a family again and kids be kids again, escaping the difficulties of life and focusing solely on family time for a little while.

“Walt Disney World is the perfect place to be able to do that,” Seyer said.
