PIQUA — “I’ve been looking for a church, but I don’t know where to go.”
For those looking to explore the Christian faith or get back to church, the annual Piqua Association of Churches’ Church Fair will be returning to the Miami Valley Centre Mall in Piqua on Friday, Aug. 19, and Saturday, Aug. 20.
“We have an annual church fair,” Paul Green, president of the Piqua Association of Churches, said. “This is a non-profit event.”
The Church Fair gives churches from all over Piqua and the surrounding area the opportunity to come together in one place and showcase their churches and what they are all about. Each participating church will have booths lined up down the mall from end to end, with many churches handing out information, as well as free crafts, games, and food.
“Also up at the food court is where we hold the musical part of the program,” Green said. “The music part of it is just powerful.”
The food court will feature worship singers and bands from the churches. Many of the songs will range from hymns to contemporary praise music. There will also be music performed with sign language at various times. Green said that Second Baptist Church usually has a dance team and Greenville Church of God also sings a cappella.
“It’s a great way to meet people,” Green said.
For Green, the Church Fair is beneficial to both the community at-large as well as church community itself. The Church Fair allows people in general to learn about different Christian denominations and churches within the city and also provides an opportunity for various churches to meet and network.
“It also enables us as churches to meet among one another,” Green said. “It really helps the church form inside the city as well.”
The Miami Valley Centre Mall is located at 987 E. Ash St. in Piqua. The Church Fair will take place during the mall’s operating hours between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m.
