PIQUA — Upper Valley Career Center has announced that the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges has granted the Adult Division three-year accreditation status. School officials were notified on July 14 of the ACCSC’s action taken at the June 2014 meeting.

Dr. Barbara Wagner, Adult Director, shared the news with the adult division staff and administration, saying, “Receiving the accreditation status with ACCSC validates the quality of Upper Valley Career Center’s adult career-technical programs.”

The ACCSC is recognized as a leading accrediting agency by the United States Department of Education. ACCSC currently accredits over 750 post-secondary institutions located across the United States. Wagner explained that ACCSC accreditation is important to the school and the entire community as it enables Upper Valley to continue offering qualifying students Pell grants and William Stafford student loans as tuition funding options.

“This announcement represents a tremendous accomplishment by Dr. Wagner and the entire Adult Division staff,” commented Superintendent Dr. Nancy Luce. “We are pleased that all Upper Valley Career Center programs reviewed by ACCSC did receive accreditation.”

The ACCSC Program Review Team consists of subject matter experts from all over the United States. During the accreditation process, each program is evaluated for the quality of the education provided to students, the quality of the faculty delivering the education, the relevance and adequacy of the curriculum, equipment and learning materials, and the achievements of students in graduating from the program and obtaining employment in the field.
