TROY — A local nonprofit is at it again this year to put on a charity music festival and donate all the proceeds to local charities.

The Miami Valley Music Festival Association, founded in 2008, will be hosting the 2014 Miami Valley Music Festival Aug. 1-2.

The two-day event will be held at Troy Eagle’s Campgrounds on Troy-Urbana Road in Troy.

Tickets may be purchased at a discounted rate now on the festival’s website miamivalleymusicfest.com. Tickets for the whole weekend are $45 now and $60 at the gate. Tickets for just Friday are $30 at the gate and tickets for just Saturday are $40 at the gate.

Primitive camping is free, while a standard RV/camper site, with no utilities is $20.

The lineup includes more than 40 bands, including many local bands and national artist Anders Osborne headlining Saturday night.

The festival will have food and merchandise vendors, local charity awareness, volunteer opportunities, and a children’s area.

All proceeds will go to benefit charity organizations serving Miami County. Past recipients include the Cancer Care Center at UVMC, Channel 5 Public Broadcasting, Covington Outreach Association, Lincoln Community Center, and the Troy Rec Center.

The Miami Valley Music Festival Association’s “Charity Rocks!” initiative seeks to educate the public on opportunities to give back to the community, and expose younger festival audiences to the public services offered by non-profit organizations.

Festival organizers say this is the biggest year yet in terms of talent and promoting local charities.

Any charity in the Miami Valley is encouraged to host a free booth at the event to expose a young audience to the many services and volunteer opportunities available in the area. They not only want to raise money for local charities, but raise awareness.

Getting involved is as simple as visiting the festival’s website miamivalleymusicfest.com. Everything you need to know about this year’s Miami Valley Music Festival is right there, including the option to purchase tickets at a discounted rate.
